Extracurricular Activities
Clubs
Clubs are an integral part of life at OFS. Clubs are a great way
for teachers and parents to share their hobbies and talents, and a wonderful
opportunity for students to try new things. OFS has a 45 minute
“Club Period” every Friday so that all students
can participate in Clubs irrespective of school bus transport,
carpools, or after-school conflicts.
At the start of each school year, the faculty polls parents and students
about their areas of interest and designs the club program accordingly.
Some Club offerings have included:
- Legos Club
- Sports Club
- Knitting Club
- Game Club
- Music Club
- Jewelry Making Club
- Walking Club
- Yoga Club
- Computer Animation Club
- Cooking Club
- Computer Club
Wii Night
Wii night has been a hit at OFS. The students enjoy a night of games, movement, fun, and friendship with their peers and faculty.
Dances
OFS hosts dances for the students, families, and friends. These are held on
Friday evenings, and are tied to seasonal themes—Holiday, Valentine’s
Day, Spring Fling. The students eagerly anticipate the dances—DJs,
special lighting effects, and refreshments make them memorable and festive.
Movie Nights
OFS movie nights are held on select Friday
afternoons and are a big hit with the students. The faculty selects
an age-appropriate, recently released movie, sets up a cozy “theatre”
in the Gathering Room, and provides refreshments.
