Two Great Programs, One Great Place

OFS offers 2 comprehensive 6-Week Extended Year Summer Programs which are both fun and educational.  designed to help students retain skills mastered in the previous school year and prepare them for the upcoming grade.

Extended Year Program

This program is designed for students with learning differences whose families wish for them to continue their academic instruction throughout the summer months. Students will spend their mornings engaged in literacy, comprehension, writing, and mathematics exercises. Additionally, students who require occupational and speech therapy services will receive services as mandated by their IEP’s. The afternoons will be more relaxed as the students enjoy recess and organized activities. Every Friday, the students will take an enriching excursion.  Past destinations have included the local zoo, the Camden aquarium, and the Palmyra Nature Cove. Orchard Friends School’s summer program enables students to maintain their current academic levels while building new skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Science and Technology Program

Orchard Friends offers a science and technology summer program designed for both mainstream students and students with learning differences in grades 6 and above. The program employs science-based inquiry to promote language and communication skills. Utilizing a hands-on approach to learning, the students will be exposed to a variety of sciences including biology, chemistry, applied physics and geology. Each week the students will engage in lab activities that will build toward a culminating project. The students will explore a multitude of science topics from CO2 powered dragsters to a virtual frog dissection. We end the summer with Orchard Friends School’s annual rocket launch.

Students do not need to be enrolled in OFS to attend any of the Summer Programs.
