Recognizing language-based learning differences
Families and teachers may observe some or several of the following symptoms:
- Late to talk
- Difficulty with oral or written self-expression
- Limited vocabulary
- Short attention span
- Poor motor skills
- Trouble identifying the sounds that correspond to letters
- Difficulty following directions
- Short and/or long-term memory problems
- Difficulty with concepts of time, space, and sequencing
- Low self-esteem
- Difficulty organizing thoughts
- Reading problems
- Poor spelling
- Difficulty with social skills
- More than average sensitivity to noises and textures
